A little about GK Woodworking.
I
started building furniture in 1981. My
wife and I were looking for furniture for ourselves for our new (old) home. We
were very disappointed in the quality verses cost. What we found was the more
expensive pieces didn't necessarily mean a better quality piece. We would still
find particle board in the piece or stapled drawers or hot melt glue holding it
together.
I started with a small piece and worked my way up to larger pieces. I drew all
of my own plans and used old fashioned joinery techniques. I use solid wood construction.
Veneers are only used on large construction for more stability. You
won't find particle board in any of my furniture. The result is a piece of
furniture that will be handed down to my children and their children eventually become an
antique.
Wouldn't it be nice to replace something because you were tired of it rather than because it was falling apart. Instead of leaving it for the junkman you could pass it on thru your family.
